The question I often get is “Does Hypnosis Work?”. The short answer is yes and no.
Here’s the longer answer to does hypnosis work.
Hypnosis works if you are ready to make a change in your life. If you don’t want to make the change but hope that hypnosis will make you do something you don’t really want to do, it’s not going to work.
Your doctor can give you pills for a problem. If you take the pills, you have a really good chance you will get better. If you don’t take the prescription, you won’t.
Your lawyer can give you advice. If you follow it, you will solve the problem you asked him or her about. If you don’t, guess what?
Most people understand this when it comes to law and healthcare. Not so much when it comes to hypnosis.
Many people think that hypnosis is something magical and mystical – a silver bullet.
It’s a partnership
Hypnosis is a 100% consent state. Hypnosis is also self-hypnosis. As a hypnotist, I give you instructions to guide you into a relaxed trance state and if you follow those instructions and go into hypnosis you can achieve the change you want.
Hypnosis isn’t something that is done to you. If you don’t want to go into hypnosis, you won’t. If you don’t want to stay in hypnosis, you’ll emerge on your own.
But, if you trust me and are willing to follow my instructions, you can go into a very nice hypnotic trance where positive suggestions can go into your subconscious
And if you are given “homework”, usually a recording to listen to daily to reinforce what we do in your sessions, that will also help you be successful.
