I’m going to ask you to rate your desire to quit smoking on a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 meaning that you are absolutely, 100% ready to quit.

And I am going to ask you to be totally honest with yourself. If you are less than an 8 on that scale, maybe now isn’t the time for you.

Here’s the thing about smoking. If you really, really enjoy it, then, by all means, keep smoking. But, ask yourself one question. Are you getting a good deal from smoking?

By this I mean, are you getting more from tobacco than it takes from you.

Is the pleasure you receive from smoking worth:

  • ageing you before your time
  • having a chronic cough
  • getting colds all the time
  • being winded when you climb a flight of stairs
  • freezing when you have to go outside to smoke in the winter
  • planning your day so that you can smoke
  • stressing about what nicotine is doing to your health

Or are you ready to look at that cigarette and say to it, “I don’t like you and I don’t want you in my life any longer”?
