No, in hypnosis you are free to accept or reject any suggestion I give you.

No. Success in hypnosis depends as much on you as the client as it does with me as the hypnotist. If you have the desire to be successful, you can be. I can’t guarantee your behaviour when you leave my office.

I always ask prospective clients how motivated they are to be successful on a scale of 1 to 10.

Ten equals extremely motivated. And I ask them to be honest with themselves – the number has to be true to them.

The higher that number is, the better the chances for success. If anyone has a number less than 8, I suggest they contact me when they can get to at least an 8 on that scale.

Absolutely, you are extremely aware in hypnosis, more aware than you are right now as you are reading this.

No, although some clients have told me they love the feeling so much they wish they could stay there. 🙂

No one has ever gotten stuck in a hypnotic trance. If I left the room or stopped talking to you for an extended period of time, you would emerge on your own.

Yes. You will still be feeling relaxed, however, your actions and reactions will be functioning super efficiently.

I do suggest that you wait for 15 to 20 minutes before leaving my office just to be sure though.

No. You are fully aware at all times of what is going on around you. Think about the times when you are drifting off to sleep or waking up. You’re still drowsy, but you can hear what’s going on in the house.
Absolutely not. Forget about what you’ve seen in movies, on television or read in fiction novels. Hypnosis is very safe.
Yes. If someone has any of the following, they shouldn’t undergo hypnosis:
  • a heart condition
  • previous heart surgery
  • a pacemaker
  • epilepsy
  • a concussion they have not been medically cleared from
  • a serious psychiatric disorder such as bi-polar, severe depression, schizophrenia
  • anyone who is intoxicated with alcohol or drugs

Severe psychiatric issues should be dealt with by a psychiatrist or psychotherapist.

Physical problems should be dealt with by your family doctor. They may suggest you use hypnosis for some health conditions such as menopause or for pain management, but first, you should see your doctor.

It’s important to understand that hypnosis is not a replacement for medical care.

Anyone with an IQ over 70 can be hypnotized.

You've been hypnotized many times during your life.

For example:

  • You are in a state of hypnosis just as you are waking up and falling asleep.
  • If you've ever driven somewhere and arrived at your destination and didn't remember most of the trip, you've experienced highway hypnosis.
  • If you have ever been so absorbed in a task that you didn't hear someone speaking to you, you've been in a hypnotic state.
  • If you've ever cried or had an emotional reaction to a movie, tv show or book, you were in hypnosis - your subconcsious mind believed what you were seeing was real
  • Have you have ever had the experience of looking everywhere for something and it turned out to be right in front of you? That was a form of hypnosis called a "negative hallucination".
